Many survivors arrive at Mosaic House with little more than the clothes they’re wearing, or sometimes they carry their belongings in trash bags. While living at Mosaic House, residents are supported by compassionate staff who help ensure their basic needs are met. From clothing and shoes to everyday items, survivors receive the essentials they need and can take those items with them when they move into a place of their own.
Thanks to our partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), residents are equipped with suitcases to leave with dignity.
Sherilyn and Nonie, chairs of The Suitcase Project, shared, “The Suitcase Project supports refugee families and women and children who are survivors of abuse start their new lives with dignity. In 2018 National Council of Jewish Women, Dallas, collaborated with Mosaic Family Services to ensure survivors of domestic abuse could transition to independence with dignity. Our volunteers collect suitcases and equip transitional apartments with essential household items, including cooking utensils, dishes, and basic bed and bath linens. We are grateful to be able to make this meaningful contribution to the brave people Mosaic serves.”
Thank you to the incredible women at NCJW for your commitment to helping survivors live with dignity. Your support helps ensure survivors have the basic necessities as they take their next steps forward.
