For Mika, finding a safe place for herself and her two young children was the first step toward building a new future. After years of being trafficked by her partner, Mika was left fearful, isolated, and unsure of where to turn. When she reached out to a trusted friend, she found out about Mosaic Family Services.
At Mosaic House shelter, Mika met with a case manager who helped her take the next steps toward stability with compassion and understanding. She was accepted into Mosaic’s transitional housing program, giving her and her children a safe apartment to call home while she continued to rebuild her savings account.
But a safe bed was only the beginning. Mika still needed to find childcare, secure employment, and work through the trauma she had experienced. Her case manager connected her with affordable childcare, helped her create a resume, and encouraged her to begin weekly therapy. With counseling, case management, and connections to community resources, Mika gradually began to feel more confident in her ability to move forward.
Today, Mika has a full-time job, and her two children are thriving in their new school. She is now focused on saving enough to move her family into permanent housing. With a safe place to live, compassionate people in her corner, and the opportunity to take each step at her own pace, Mika and her children are building a future they’re proud to call their own.
