This March, Mosaic Family Services partnered with Mizzou Alternative Breaks to host a group of eleven volunteers at our Mosaic House. This amazing group of student volunteers from the University of Missouri was selected out of 600 applicants to work with our organization over spring break. During the course of their five days at Mosaic House, this group completed numerous tasks around the shelter such as organizing the storage room, power washing the porch and driveway, building a vegetable garden, and even creating a labyrinth in the backyard. They played games, did crafts, watched movies, and organized outdoor activities for the children of the Mosaic House. In addition, this group also taught a series of life skills classes to Mosaic Clients with topics including nutrition, computer proficiency, resume building and interview training. These classes will help our clients further their independence and self-confidence as they enter the workplace.
We would like to thank Mizzou Alternative Breaks for choosing Mosaic Family Services to be one of the many organizations supported by the University of Missouri. We want to extend a special thank you to the eleven incredible volunteers who spent their spring break with us! Your devotion to human rights is an inspiration and your laughter and energy are already greatly missed!
